NATURA MORTA (a dance less), the latest creation of the contemporary dance group Synthesis748, introduces on stage the verge of space-time, in which a dance ritual unfolds, sometimes as a contemporary lament and sometimes as an archaic rave, following an increasing escalation of kinetic intensity. In a post-apocalyptic setting, two dancers, suspended in mourning and worship, trauma and healing, like modern shamans, pay a last salute, seeking through their dance to make their bodies seeds for potential new worlds. The choreography is based on the evolution of slow movement and its repetitive pattern, the imprinting of symbolic, primitive movements and gestures, leading to an inner and outer transformation of the dancer.

Spyros Kouvaras, choreographer and establisher of Synthesis748 explicates: ”The dance group focuses on how different connections of muscle groups can affect, through the change of their repetition rhythm, the mental and physical state of the performer, in a journey from mourning to catharsis. The first half of the work is characterised by the progressively increasing intensity of movement, while in the greater part of the second half, a kinetic language with a pictorial character is developed, where through the interaction of bodies with mainly physical materials, the dance vocabulary functions as a ‘’tableau vivant’’, lending a kaleidoscopic perspective to the performance.”

The performance is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture for 2024.

The Mill of Performing Arts is co-organized by SMouTh and the Mayoralty of Culture of Larissa and is supported by the Greek Ministry of Culture.
