VOΛΤΑ is musical narrative walking tour based on free experimentation through theatrical narration and music, inextricably linked to the natural landscape. Inspired by the everyday thoughts of contemporary city dwellers in combination with literary texts by Greek authors.

Why do we go out for a walk, to move around? Do our thoughts contribute to the need for a walk? Is walking a way to unwind? A way to facilitate the flow of our thoughts or even to stop thinking? How does our thinking influence and is influenced by what we see and everything that surrounds us? Does thinking offer a temporary refuge from the noise of the urban landscape?
Listeners/viewers, through the use of headphones, enjoy a musical narrative “journey” on a walking route to selected points in the city just before sunset, using the natural/urban landscape as a backdrop.

A walking activity that connects people who love alternative art, walking and music.

The activity is aimed at a small number of spectators (16) and comfortable shoes are required. The activity is also inclusive for the city’s English-speaking audience. Parts of the walk are not accessible to people with mobility difficulties.

Scarmi, in the Cretan dialect, refers to the traces left behind by animals, revealing that they have passed through. Scarmi group is a self-managed music theater group, created in Rethymno, Crete, in 2020. Actors and musicians collaborate on and off stage to create atmospheric, electrodynamic narratives, combining music and theater mainly in the form of theatrical performances or alternative ways, such as narrative walks, live musical narrative actions in indoor or outdoor spaces, theatrical or otherwise.
The group encourages free experimentation in the context of creation but also during live performances. It uses musical instruments and computers, analog synthesizers, electric guitars, various pedals, looping, drum machines, samples, voice, movement, theatrical performance and prose. The music in all performances/actions is an original creation of the group, which varies depending on the theme, such as post-punk, dark wave, electronica, cinematic ambient, trip hop, jazz, dub, and orchestral.
The group’s aim is to engage with key socio-political and existential issues concerning humanity and society, based on literary texts with the aim of stimulating public opinion by sparking awareness and emotions.
