RIZITIKO_REload
The theatre company Scarmi and Antivaro Theatre, in co-production with the MPArt 13 Festival – BRIDGES / SMouTh – Synergy of Music Theatre, present the music theatre performance RIZITIKO_REload.
The performance marks the first artistic collaboration between the two theatre groups from Rethymno and will premiere on Friday, September 18, 2026, as part of the 13th MPArt Festival in Larissa.
The work draws on the traditional Rizitika songs of Crete, approaching them as a living field for recomposition and theatrical experimentation. Through the encounter of spoken word, body, live music and soundscapes, RIZITIKO_REload engages with questions of memory, identity, violence, gender discrimination, desire and collective experience, repositioning tradition within a contemporary social and political context.
The creative process was developed in Rethymno, where both groups are based, and is rooted in a collective methodology of research and performance composition, with an emphasis on improvisation, voice, physical presence, music and sound experimentation.
The theme of this year’s festival, “Bridges,” is directly connected to the core of the performance, as the work seeks to create a dialogue between tradition, contemporary performance language and today’s social reality.
